My advice, be careful with sew in body wave

A new visitor on your web store goes straight for body wave. For a long time, she wants a sew in body wave and your Brazilian hair is just what she needs. The Brazilian 14 inches are little more expensive than what she had in mind, but she feels in love and can not wait to sew in the body wave.
Your product description for the 14 inches of Brazilian Body wave, tells about the lengths, the weight, and the colour, and you even added information about the shipping. This should be enough for your visitors to buy your Brazilian weaves.
And it works, because your visitor buys three bundles of the 14 inches of your Brazilian Body wave, plus a closure. With a smile you prepare the order, always good to see a first-time visitor turn into a client.

Happy client turns into very angry woman due to the sew in body wave

Your client was pleasantly surprised, not only because she received the parcel with the hair the next day, also because the hair looked so nice and even taller than the 14 inches she ordered. She left a comment on your Instagram account, your hair was the true love for her she has been looking for so long!
She will recommend you to all her friends! You are so happy, and you know the extra money you invested in the beautiful case and the express shipment was worth every penny. This client will bring you a lot of business! You love it when your clients are happy.

Would You Like to Make $ 30.000/month for Only $ 29/month?

What did you forgot to tell about the 14 inches Brazilian Body wave?

But two weeks later, you receive a not so nice e-mail message. Your client who bought the 14 inches Brazilian Body wave, was no longer happy. She shared with you an image of the sew in body wave and it looked awful. It tangled and did not look like the hair you sold. This was bad, very bad hair! How come?
You are sure you can trust your wholesale supplier; you are in business with them since you started your own hair store. There should not be any problem is to sew in body wave! What went wrong?
You pick the phone and call the client. This unhappy customer keeps you awake at night, and you want this mystery and misery out of the world a.s.a.p.
These calls are never nice, it takes you a lot of patience to first calm down the client and to ensure her the reason of this call is to get her good hair again.
After some time, when your client has off loaded all her frustration on you, and she told you she still has the body wave sewed in, she is ready to have a normal conversation. She tells about her stylist, the best there is, and how the hair got from bad to worse over time.
You asked her how she maintained the hair, and now you start to understand where the bad hair comes from. Your client has never thought to give extra care to the hair. She was a person that easily sweats, and she had a lot of stress at work and with taking care of the kids. Not much time to comb the hair, or to wash it good and to rub the right conditioner.
For you, everything is clear, your client did not realize the sew in body wave needs the proper maintenance. Without hair care, this beautiful 14 inches of Brazilian Body wave hair of course will turn into bad hair.
But when you explain your client how to take care of the hair, she gets angry again. You never told her this before, nor did your web store mention the need of care.
The hair care was for you a normal thing, but your client was not aware on how to take care of the hair. The right advice, at the right moment would have kept your client, happy with her sew in body wave.

How to keep your clients happy

It is good to share with your client the details of the hair they want to buy and how long it will take before they will receive their hair. But you also should invest some time to explain well the best way to take care of the hair. Add to the product pages a link or some text to remind your client about the best way to take care of the hair you sell. If possible, add the recommendations also on the tags for the hair, so your client will not miss your guidance on the hair.
Do you inform your clients about how to take care of their sew in body wave, leave a comment?

Covid 19 news. Clients need hair but suppliers miss the orders

Covid 19 news, high demand for hair, but nobody sells!

Here is some Covid 19 news if you are sitting home and waiting for the lockdown to end and the virus to leave the country. Or is your strategy to win from the Coronavirus by waiting until everything is back to normal?

Then I have bad Covid 19 news for you, a big chance you will wait too long. Big chance your clients and leads will be gone and lying in the hands of the competition. The market is not waiting, and your clients did not stop buying hair, hair care and cosmetics!

L’ Oreal has good Covid 19 news

How do I know? Why would I know better? All you need to do is to check for example the first quarterly results of a hair and cosmetic giant like L’Oréal. I will tell you more about this. But again if you think the market is asleep, wait until I tell you about an increase of 50-60 percent of online sales!

After the good news about the hair and care market, I will share some ideas to enjoy from this higher demand. I do not want you, my loyal viewer, to miss the opportunity to start, and grow your hair business so you can make nice money.

I will complete this post by sharing what some of my clients, leads and other nice ladies and men are doing right now. Again, no need to believe me, let the market tell you what is happening!

Ready for the good news about COVID 19?

This week on CNN business an inspiring story about of the largest hair and beauty companies in the world. L’Oreal. The title “People aren’t leaving home. But they’re still buying beauty products” immediately draw my attention. This great piece of journalism from Hanna Ziady was exactly what I was looking for. Hanna is the south African Financial journalist for CNN. (follow her on Twitter @HannaZiady). Her article has what I needed to inspire you all to act. Last week I already told you only you can get the whole world out of the Corona crisis, this article confirms it!

Higher hair and beauty sales despite Coronacrisis

Okay, only facts matter. L’ Oreal, know from African Beauty Brands, Garnier, Ralph Lauren, Maybelline New York, Proenza Schouler, Atelier Cologne reported a 6 percent higher sales in China the first quarter of 2020. That is higher sales in a period everybody is talking about lower business thanks to the Corona crisis.

Strong appetite for beauty products remains intact!

L’Oreal understands what is happening perfectly well. “as the example of China has shown, the current situation does not call into question consumers’ strong appetite for beauty products, which remains intact”.

China, the first country hit by the Coronavirus, or Covid-19, saw online sales that have skyrocketed! 67% growth L’Oreal explained to Hanna Ziady. That is a figure you can be proud of! The main products? Skincare and haircare. So, lockdown, or no lockdown, here is Covid 19 news “” there is a clear demand for beauty products!”

Now the country is reopening its economy, the demand for other products has bounced back strongly. Hanna wrote L’Oreal predicts a double-digit growth in the second quarter!

Lesson to learn from L’ Oreal and Darling Hair

Here is a lesson to be learned, the same as you did from Darling hair, invest in your online presence now! Focus on wigs and other hair installments your clients can do themselves.

You want better Covid-19 news to convince you?

Okay, let’s repeat there was a pretty quick bounce back of the consumption of beauty products.

But also, it is not a demand crisis, it’s a supply crisis. In other words, your clients are in desperate need for hair and beauty products! But they cannot find them!

The CEO of L’Oreal, Jean-Paul Agon, predicted a “rush to salons everywhere” once the lockdown is over. Black Friday will be like a kid’s party! This is only good news if you do something with this business opportunity!

Contact salons, nearby and elsewhere and team up! Tell them you can support them with the demand for hair and beauty products. Share the business and make both extra profit!

On Fox news, yeah, I watch a lot of TV, I saw a lady in the US who complained about the lock down. Her hair was growing out! She had a natural ombre. Grey on top and coloured below her ears! She was ready to protest the lockdown to be over, so she could visit the salon again!

I bet you know more examples near you!

Business Opportunities

Okay, there we go. If you have the time, the ambition and the passion to launch or grow your hair business, this is the moment!

Online Sales

If you are still in lockdown, use the time to start preparing yourself. Benefit from the huge demand for wigs, clip ins and other easy to DIY install hair. Sell Online. Help your clients how to select the best product, be their expert and sell. If you are ready to sell them the hair they need today, they will return to you when we have more positive Covid 19 news. Or when the Coronavirus will have less impact on our daily life.

Team up with salons

Connect with local salons and offer your help. Work out together the needs your mutual customers will have once they can have their hair done again.

No salons you know, consider how you can help your clients finding the best hair they need. Look for ways to interact with them on social media or WhatsApp. Be patience and most importantly listen to them.

What others say about the hair market

I want to share some of the chats and calls I had the last week. They inspired me and I think they can also help you to understand what is going on in the hair market. It is not only Covid 19 news, but most of it is related to the Coronavirus. How are other hair resellers and start-ups thinking or doing and how can you learn from them?

You are not alone

Just some chats I had last week:

  • Mo from Kenya, she was happy with the post “God will help you to fight the Coronavirus”. A post I wrote on the 8th of this month inspired by her and some other women, Always good to hear somebody is happy!
  • Tecla from Nairobi, she just contacted to check on me, how I and my family were doing, so nice!
  • Rachel from Ghana is busy preparing her business plan. Next to her busy job as a midwife. Did you know many nurses and other people working in health care are also very interested in selling hair? Could be an interesting niche.
  • Cyntia from Namibia, she is already selling hair with her business and wanted to expand. She did not want the Coronavirus to slow down her business, she wanted to help her growing number of clients. But now some weeks later the lock down in her country forced her to slow down, at least till the 5th of May
  • Kevin from Central Kenya, contacted me some weeks ago to start selling hair. But this week he was so much in need for money to buy food for him and his family. He could not invest in setting up his own business anymore. I promised I will pray for him and will think hard on how to help him.
  • Simone from North Caroline USA, is eager to start selling hair and beauty products. I already prepared her web store and
  • Iphy from Nigeria, from Jannis Hair Line, who is talking to Simone about providing wigs. Check her web store, our design by the way, if you also need wigs! And of course
  • Vivian, who is working hard with us on her web store Elizabeth Hair World with the most beautiful hair in Nigeria for every target group.

Selling Hair in Nigeria without capital

Ready to start selling hair in Nigeria without capital?

Have you been dreaming for a long time to start selling hair in Nigeria, but you do not how? Read how to start a hair business in Nigeria. Today can be your day, because we are rolling out a new business model especially for your hair business in Nigeria.

According to Statista Nigeria has about 154 million internet connections, mostly mobile at the end of 2020. That means you have online access to a very wide audience.

Selling hair with a professional web store and all the hair your clients will like, with the lowest investment of the hair industry in Nigeria.

Now you can start a hair business in Nigeria without cash

You have the passion to sell hair to women and girls in your city or even nation-wide, but you lack the capital to purchase the hair?
No need to keep on dreaming and to miss the opportunity to make money, with a hair business in Nigeria. So often, when I chat or talk to women from Nigeria, they make me enthusiastic about their business ideas. Many have a clear idea on how they will change the hair world in Nigeria. It is very inspiring to have these conversations, but too bad most of them have the same ending. The question: How much do I need to start a hair business in Nigeria? And often they lack the capital to start selling hair in Nigeria.

That made me feel very bad. I know ways to get a loan in Nigeria, but not everybody qualifies. How to get all these beautiful ideas to start a hair business in Nigeria on the market?

So, I decided to solve that problem for once and for all, as of today you can start selling hair in Nigeria without capital thanks to our dropshipping hair extensions offer. Plus an affordable website design for top stores

How does dropshipping in Nigeria work?

If you sell hair, you make a profit because the price your client pays is higher than the price you pay, your purchase price. This profit margin is for your expenses and the reward for the risk you take to start a business. You know the lower the purchase price for you, the higher profit margin you can make. But to get a lower purchase price, you need to buy a higher volume of hair, than retail.

Buying hair at wholesale prices is often the problem, because two objectives work against you:

  • The supplier will only give a lower purchasing price when you buy a high volume and;
  • Clients have different needs, to cater them you need to have a broad product offering

You need to buy much to get a discount, but you also need to by some bundles of everything!
With drop shipping you can offer a broad product offering, but you do not have to buy the hair first. But you will get the wholesale price, because the supplier knows you will over a period buy larger volumes.
The orders will be shipped to you, a pickup point or straight to your client. Because the supplier knows this model will only work if they respect your relationship with your clients, they will not steal your client.

Do not let the Coronavirus eat your profit!

Do not let the Coronavirus eat your profit!

Sales will drop due to Coronavirus regardless the origin of your hair!

There is no more doubt, the Coronavirus will eat the profit of most stores all over the world. The measures to protect the outbreak, the uncertainty and uncontrollable spreading all over the world will slow down the economies and with this your sales too.

Despite the advice from the World Health Organisation, the US and Australia said they would deny entry to all foreign visitors who had recently been in China. Earlier, countries including Russia, Japan, Pakistan and Italy announced similar travel restrictions. The advice from the WHO is to limit the negative economical and health impact of the Coronavirus. But a ban also has a discriminatory impact, people start to avoid people who might be a risk to their health. Even if there is no reason whatsoever. I also think we should in times of crisis help and comfort each other. How difficult this might be because of all the uncertainties.

But all this means on top of lower availability of stock, there is less appetite to buy any new product or good. Less demand for hair and wigs will most probably hit your bottom line this quarter. Less sales and perhaps less profit.

Time for some measures to fight the Coronavirus.

Do not sit still and wait until the virus is gone and we have time to worry about other things. Now it is the best time to react and to fight the virus.

Why will people buy less hair extensions or wigs?

To understand why people will buy less, you must realize economy has everything to do about feeling good. If your client know she will get a salary rise, even before she gets the rise she starts thinking in possibilities. “What if I buy more of this, or what if I redecorate my house, or what if I buy a new wig?” This has helped the healthy economic growth for the last several years. But now this is under pressure due to the Coronavirus. The weird thing is, even if you do not sell hair from Chinese suppliers, or if you are in an area far away from Coronavirus victims, people, will still prefer to keep their hands on the pockets.
If you want to see the proof of this, just check the red figures on the stock markets all over the world. Investors like to buy stock in companies they believe will make more sales and profit in the future. If they expect disappointing sales, they sell the stock and the value will go down.

Also, the CEO’s of major firms like Apple, Starbucks and McDonalds foresee lower growth and reduce operations. This will not only impact the operations in China, but all over the world. Chinese people will travel less and consume less. The Government has placed restrictions on family or group gatherings, while people have less to buy. This again will also influence the import of certain goods.
Overall there is less money to spend, and this will impact the economy all over the world. People will prefer to keep the money in their pocket.

What can you do about it?

As mentioned before, it is important to educate your clients about the risk of the Coronavirus. Or better how limited that risk is, especially for the hair you are selling. This is again an opportunity to show how well experienced you are. So, write a blogpost about the Wuhan Coronavirus in relation to the product you offer. For some background information see my previous blogpost. People are searching the internet for news about the virus, so it will help to be specific and to use the keyword Coronavirus with some terms related to the hair you are selling.

Next to this, see if you can offer some discount coupons. People might hesitate to buy goods they do not see as their first priority. We all know you can fight anything from scary spiders to the Wuhan Coronavirus if only your hair looks gorgeous. A discount might do the trick to seduce your client to still buy the hair. Make sure you put a time limit to the offer, otherwise she will still wait to buy the hair until the virus has been long forgotten.

Organize a hair extensions party with China as your special theme. People will be curious to know more about your hair and about china. The unknown has always been attractive. This way people can talk about their fears and share with each other stories. Make sure you have enough knowledge yourself to answer any question about the Coronavirus or ask somebody with a medical background to support you. You will see, once your guests are feeling relaxed, they will be very fast in the buying mode. And what can they buy? Your beautiful hair!

Less Hair from China Due to B.1.1.529 Coronavirus

Last update: Feb 9th, 2020

Over 70 percent of the world hair market is exported by China. Since the outbreak the Coronavirus made many people sick and is responsible for the death of many people worldwide. But the coronavirus B.1.1.529 also has a devastating impact on the availability of goods and the trade of products like cars, spare parts and hair extensions and wigs. The economy of China is hit very badly already, and the rest of the world will feel the impact because of this. Selling hair in 2020 will be more difficult.

Clients prefer to keep the money in their pocket because of the uncertainty, some clients fear to touch goods like hair (wrapped or not) from China or Asia and it will be more difficult to get the hair you ordered from your wholesale supplier to your store. Governments of many western countries have limited the traffic with mainland China.

In times of crisis you can show how will you know how to improvise, how well prepared you are and off course that you are the expert your clients should turn to if they have any question related to hair trends, safety and maintenance. With this post I will give you some background information, tips and links to keep on selling hair, despite the B.1.1.529 Coronavirus crisis.

How can the B.1.1.529 Coronavirus limit how much hair is available?

So, how can a simple virus cause so much stress on the global hair market?

Less workers in hair factories available

To contain the Coronavirus the Chinese government had extended the Chinese New Year’s holiday. It is estimated a 3 billion transfers take place during the New Year’s holiday season, making it the largest human migration. A migration with of course an increased risk for the B.1.1.529 virus to spread all over China. The always joyful period of the Chinese New Year Holiday has now turned into a nightmare for many Chinese families. The weekend of February the 9th the last workers will return to their hometown and start to work on Monday.

The processing of hair is a rather labor-intensive activity. Many tasks are handled by humans and can’t be replaced by machines or robots (yet). Manufacturing of the hair has been already low due to the holiday, but one can expect it will take some time before all factories will be producing at the normal level again. How many workers will show up because many might be sick or too occupied with the impact of the virus on their daily live.

Export of hair and other goods suspended due to the Virus

China has the last decade become the main factory of the world. The fact is today so many goods are produced in China, the global economy depends very much on China. Another effort from the Chinese Government to limit the outbreak of the Coronavirus is to suspend freight movements. Less trains, less ships leave Chines logistical hubs and harbors. This is adding to the limited availability of the goods like hair extensions and wigs outside China.

The consequence is once the factories will start to manufacture hair and similar goods again, they will face difficulties in finding enough ways to transport the hair to their clients. Or the marketplaces like Amazon in the United States or elsewhere.

This shows a solution for one part of the crisis, will not solve the limited availability of hair in the short term. Time for some action to keep on selling hair to your clients.

How to avoid you can not sell due to B.1.1.529 Coronavirus?

Your sales should not decline because of the Coronavirus, there are a couple of measures you can execute.

Always go for two hair suppliers

To have a reliable source of hair, a wholesale supplier delivering a consistent level of quality is gold in this business. You know your client will always get the best hair. This will help to turn them into happy and loyal clients. Good for them and good for your business.

In times like today, with a virus or any other crisis that hits the logistics, this strategy, of having only one supplier, might cause your brand some serious damage.

This crisis shows it helps you to have a second supplier at hand. This will reduce the risk you will have orders but no hair to sell because your supplier has delivery issues. A second supplier also avoid you will have no time to check and test the hair thoroughly as you otherwise would do. If you have no second supplier now make sure you plan to have one.

Invest more in stock
The best thing for your cashflow is to keep your inventories low, money invested in stock is not earning you anything. The downside is, if you run out of stock and clients show interest in the hair you offer. There are not many things more painful I can think of. A client who shows you the money to buy your hair, but you have to say no, because the hair is not in stock.

Increase overtime the minimum level of your inventory. This will freeze some of your money in the stock, but as Chinese Hair might become for a period difficult to order, you can increase the price if needed.

Partner up with the competition
The hair industry is famous for the competition, but we also share a lot. Invest in the relation with your supplier and with other resellers. This will increase your chances to have enough access to hair extensions.
With a good relationship with your supplier, they will give you their preference if they are short on hair. In times like this where there is a scarcity of hair and other beauty related goods, thus can help you to get supplied before the competition.

Also, to partner with other resellers or salons will help. What about you are short on a certain type of hair, but a partnering salon or another reseller still has this texture on stock. You could swap the hair you have with the hair you need from them. This is beneficial for both of you, because the specific needs of the clients might deviate and you both have a larger pool to choose from. Make sure to have a good profit-sharing arrangement in place.

Check the stocks of marketplaces
Sellers of hair on AliExpress or Amazon most often keep their stocks abroad if they use the fulfillment services, this allows for swift delivery when you place an order outside the country of origin. Check the available hair on AmazonliExpress if you need hair now and accept a slightly higher price if that will allow you to keep on selling hair.
Avoid the virus will spread via the packaging or the hair.
PLease, stay safe and take care of yourself, your staff and family. Avoid the virus will spread via the packaging or the hair. Ilness in your company will impact your operation and also the sales.

Learn more about this in Can You Get the Coronavirus via the Packaging or the Hair itself?

The Strength of Diversification
It is key to focus on a niche in the market, but no need to limit your product offering to only one kind of product. It is better to add complementary goods. Goods your ideal clients need too. This can be hair care, or beauty products. They already know you and your brand because of the beautiful hair you have sold them before. To sell them additional goods or services will be less difficult. In times when clients are less interested to buy one of the products you are selling, or if you have less in stock, the other goods will keep you in business.

Make sure you keep selling hair despite the virus

The B.1.1.529 Coronavirus will not put you out of business, nor will it impact the Chinese hair suppliers for a long time. But it does show you in the hair business nasty surprises can happen. They will always be different, but with the right measures you can avoid any crisis, small or big, to impact your hair business.
