Only if you measure the activity and outcome of your business you know what is happening. Of course you will have a (kind of) bookkeeping to check on the financial side and to prepare your tax return. But bookkeeping is telling you what has happened some time ago, while to take the right decisions in business you like to know what is going to happen. For this you need to define for yourself a number of indicators that will tell you what is likely to happen tomorrow or later.
Good indicators are for example the number of people visiting your site or the number and type of comments on your Facebook postings.
Once you have more than 30 likes of your Facebook Page you will be able to see a treasure of information on the people who are interested in your Page. Only the administrator of the Page (so you) is able to see this data. There is a lot of data available, but you should again focus on a few, otherwise you will get lost in the information, but if for example you have a base set of 5 indicators and every month you select one other you will enrich your insight without losing yourself in all the data available. Here are some suggestions to start with:
Evolution in number of ¨likers¨ or fans: If you follow on the ending of each month the number of ¨Likers¨ or fans, you will be able to see how appreciated your page is. If you manage to have a growth of 10% a month you are doing very nice. If you see a certain spurt in growth or many ¨unlikers¨, then you should analyse what might be the cause and use this to or further improve the growth or to avoid more people to turn their back to your page.
The average number of Likes or comments: These indicators show you which discussions are of more interest to your fans. Watch for unusual spikes or drops in this number as it will teach you what exactly your fans are interested in. Increase the number of postings around the topic your likers are more engaged with and decrease the number of posts around topics they are not interested in. And check afterwards the impact. Instead to check all postings, you can also check the top 10 postings with the most engaged users and the top 10 of the less engaged users in the last period (month). Just click on the arrow to sort by most and less popular.

Question: I hope this email finds you well.I am a lady based in South Africa in the cape town province looking forward to starting a hair extension business importing hair from China. In this week I will be receiving hair samples from the suppliers.I was kindly asking for advice on how i can best market and sell my hair .Thank you for promptly addressing my issue.I.will be looking forward to receiving your response.
Answer: Good to read you already bought the hair, I would advice to first perform a market survey, find out what your clients are looking for. Go to a place (mall, market, the town center), where your can find your target clients. Make sure you look great with your own hair and start to ask them: if they buy hair extensions, the type of hair, if they buy online or in salons, what they like in the service of other shops find out the name of the shops they like and what they do not like. We have a form that goes with our eBook with more questions. The goal is to find out what your potential clients like, so you can focus on that type of hair and for example the service and price level.
Before you order wholesale hair, check the shops analyse how they offer the hair and what you can do different, more in line with the needs of your target group.
Now you know who your target group is and where they normally go to buy hair, also on the internet, and build your marketing presence around this.
Make sure you collect the email address, and use an email program to start communicating with your potential clients, make sure they already start to get interested in your offer. By doing so, the day your shop will officially open it´s doors, you will have more clients then you could ever imagine!

Last year our server went down and we lost contact with a lot of you, it will take some time to fix it according to the provider, but it is really frustrating not being able to reach your visitors, your clients or your audience.
There are multiple ways of contacting your audience, but in most cases they do not reach you in the same way, some only search in Google, others use referral sites or social media only. So how do you inform them you are still in business but at this moment they can not use your webshop or site.
A disaster is always a disaster but if you plan in advance what to do in case of bad luck it helps you to get back on your feet faster. Some thoughts for your plan:
–Agree with the provider to inform you pro-active about any issue that will endanger your operations, like in case the server with your website is down, they should know it right away while you are not supposed to watch your own website the whole day long, you should attend your own customers!
–Prepare a small communication note with alternative contact details and use social media and any referral websites you use to bring this message to your clients
–Repeat the communication, you can use tools like hootsuite to schedule postings, so at the same time you can communicate to your audience and keep on dealing with your clients
–If you start to collect the email addresses from your clients, next to a great marketing tool, you can use this also to communicate to them directly about what happened and that you are still in business
–Read again the contract with your provider about any rights you have on compensation.
For our spanish Blog Ventadeextensionesdepelo we are already using Bluehost and we are investigating the use of Bluehost also for our english website.
And keep your fingers crossed that you will be in the air 24/7 to keep on serving your clients!
