The first step, as mentioned in my previous post, if you like to start selling hair is to forget about yourself.
Not you, but somebody else has to buy your hair, right? Now you have to figure out to whom you are going to sell your hair to.

You like to start selling hair?

Believe me, I have been asking this question over and over again to my clients and visitors of my website. They tell me they like to start selling hair, so I ask the question:
To whom are you going to sell the hair? What is your target market? Who is your ideal client?

Do not sell hair to yourself

80 to 90 % of the answers on my question learned me people want to sell hair to people they know. People like yourself. Because of this I published in 2016 a post to ask Afro American women to stop selling hair to Afro American women.

It turned out nearly all Afro American start ups wanted to sell hair to Afro American women between 18 and 35! No possibility to distinguish yourself from the competition, just copy-paste. This reduces ,for sure, the chance for your online store for getting noticed on the internet!
If you focus on millions of clients with interest to buy hair, it is the same as no focus at all.
You need to laser [focus your marketing messages] to a specific group of the market. The best way to get noticed. Women, or men, with a special need. A need nobody else has discovered, except you!

Talk Hair to Discover their needs

Now you see why it is so very important to forget about yourself and to think of the needs of somebody else.
Take your time and talk hair with as many people as possible. Absorb their needs, take notes and think of the perfect solution for their needs.

There is no difference if you want to sell hair online or in a shop or salon. People with hair needs will start looking for solutions the minute they feel they lack a solution. The will have questions like:

Who can help me?
Where do I find the solution for my hair struggle?

They will talk to their friends and turn to their favorite information channel. Facebook, Youtube channel or a hair magazine to mention a few.

It is profitable to know where your clients check for information

Why? For example, you understand the kind of Youtube channels your clients are watching. Try to connect to these channels and offer them a special offer. No need to only aim at the Youtube channels with the most followers. Better to look for new vloggers who imitate successful vlogs. Or who are active on your special place of the market. Big chance they are looking for something new and that new thing could be the hair you have to offer.

The easy way to get clients

You know what interest your potential clients have. All you need to do is to check the specific Youtube channel. Enjoy from the effort from the vloggers who want to grow their number of likes. Let them talk about your hair, or create content that is similar. Your potential client will find information and entertainment and …. your hair.

Think like others to start selling hair

To start selling hair, first forget about yourself. Start with a small role-play by thinking like your potential clients. If you are able to think like your potential clients, you will also understand better where they get their information from. This means, if they look for hair, or beauty products, they will find your offer and your own online hair store.
